You Ain’t Gonna Bother Me…

No more, nohow.
Love just goes so far
No more
Woke up this morning and found
I didn’t care for you no more
Nohow
Never felt so good before
You’re down to my size
It’s over and done
So honey, step down from your throne
That look in your eyes
Don’t bother me none
Can take or leave you alone
From my window
Skies ain’t grey no more
Not now
Here’s the day
That I’ve been waiting for
Got only one heart
One heart with no spares
Must save it for loving
Somebody who cares
So you ain’t gonna bother me
No more, no more

With a doff of my cap to the incomparable Billie Holiday – and Toots Camarata and Bob Russell, who penned the above timelessness - I’m up way too early today, and off to the races.

So as Lady Day, Ms. Mitchell, The Indigos, Norah J and Mr. Morrison shuffle through my personal ether, let’s get down to business.

Lawrence O’Donnell, it’s official. You’re getting on my nerves.

My fingernails are filthy/I’ve got beach tar on my feet…

Armed with nothing but regret from a previous (and frankly, waaay over-personalized ) failure to get health care done, while – what was it, a page? – on the Senate Finance Committee during the Clinton years, Mr.O’Donnell takes almost daily to MSNBC (and Huffington, and anyone else willing to afford him the time and space) to rail about exactly how bad the final health-care bill will be and why it will deliver nothing.

Hush now, don’t explain…

Larry, I love ya, really I do. I love your self-proclaimation as a “practical European socialist,” your unyielding push for progressive causes. I love your creative projects (The West Wing, Big Love). I even love 99 percent of your rants (the Michael Vick thing, though - I’m hoping you’ve at last gained some comprehension).

The hardest to learn was the least complicated…

I even love that you personalize the Clintonian failure on health-care reform, though you know where the blame truly lies.

But right now, you’re just wrong. And the thing is, I think you know it.

The final legislation will have a strong – make that an open-a-can-o’-whoop-ass – public option, and not because of your near-constant complaining.

It’ll happen because the time is finally right, and because this President, despite your claims to the contrary, is playing his cards exactly right.

By refusing to show what he’s holding (dear), he forces those who owe their seats to him to do what they know in their hearts they must do - and what every poll is saying Americans want them to do (except Rasmussen, of course - but it counts as much today as it never did).

So please, Larry. To avoid looking like an angry, old, recovering-Catholic white guy (I can say that, being all of them myself)…

Chill.

Signing off (and it’s still way too early)…

-tasulo
